Could your community host a small data centre?

We partner with communities to host small, quiet data centres that feed their waste heat into local heat networks. Together we can cut bills, reduce carbon and keep more value in the places we live.

Who should nominate?

  • Community energy groups and development trusts
  • Parish/town councils and neighbourhood forums
  • Housing providers, schools, colleges and leisure sites
  • Landowners and site managers near heat demand
  • Residents championing their street, estate or village

Use local renewables twice

A small data centre runs on your local clean power (hydro, solar or wind). Instead of wasting energy when generation is throttled, we give it a steady, useful job.

Capture the warmth

Computers give off heat. We capture it as warm water using efficient cooling and store it if needed.

Share it locally

That warmth feeds a low-temperature heat network serving nearby homes and buildings using ground source heat pumps — replacing costly, high-carbon heating.

What makes a good site?

  • Renewables nearby: hydro/solar/wind with spare/curtailed output
  • Wasted Assets nearby: Renewables nearby that are bypassing rural communities and allowing communities to access those assets that are on their doorstep
  • Heat users close by: homes, halls, schools, swimming pools, care homes within ~1 km
  • Existing or planned heat network: An ideal, but not an essential.
  • Connectivity: fibre/backhaul or practical options
  • Space: for a small, quiet enclosure and plant
  • Supportive stakeholders: landowner and local champions
